"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it," (Matthew 7:13-14).

Most people don't realize it, but Jesus promised to build His church in Matthew 16:18. He said "...upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it." Jesus did as He promised. The church was established on the day of Pentecost, 10 days after Christ's ascension. In Acts 2:47, it says: "...and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." Between Jesus' promise to build His church and the day of Pentecost, Jesus built His "church". The book of Acts records the history of the growth of that church. It began in Jerusalem about 33AD and has existed ever since. In Romans 16:16 the apostle Paul said: "...the churches of Christ salute you." The church Christ built is over 1900 years old. Jesus built His church exactly the way He wanted it. The Bible teaches that when people obey the Gospel, God adds them to Christ's church. What Gospel did they obey? It is the same Gospel that must be obeyed today. The word church comes from the Greek word "Ekklesia". It means those called out of the world. The church is made up of the saved. It is never a physical building. It is Christ's spiritual body.

What must one do to be saved and added to Christ's church?
